Hemlock & Birch Studios is a Massachusetts-based wedding photography collective led by Joe and Elin Dolen, serving couples throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New England.
We believe great wedding photography is about more than beautiful photographs. It's about creating an experience that allows couples to be fully present on their wedding day while knowing every important moment is being documented with care.

After years of photographing weddings throughout New England, Joe and Elin founded Hemlock & Birch Studios to provide couples with the support of a full-service studio while maintaining the creativity and personal connection that comes from working with experienced independent photographers.
Rather than operating around the availability of a single photographer, Hemlock & Birch collaborates with a carefully selected network of professional wedding photographers who share our approach to client experience, storytelling, and wedding day coverage.

At Hemlock & Birch Studios, we believe great wedding photography starts with a strong process.
We guide couples through timeline planning, family photo organization, and the overall flow of the day so everything feels efficient without being rushed. You’ll have access to your client portal along the way, where everything from your timeline to questionnaires and planning resources is organized in one place, along with access to our studio manager for any questions that come up.
On the wedding day, our photographers work with a calm and thoughtful approach, providing direction when it's helpful and stepping back when it's not. The result is coverage that feels natural, relaxed, and true to your experience.
