From college memories to wedding vows, a beautiful September celebration at Fern Hill Barn


Rainy wedding days can be just as beautiful as sunny ones, and Caylee and Ryan's September wedding at Fern Hill Barn in Spencer, MA was a perfect example! The rain may have kept most of the day indoors, but with the greenhouse, cozy fireplace, and beautiful barn ballroom, there were plenty of great spots for photos and celebrating with family and friends.


We started the day with Caylee and Ryan's first look in the greenhouse, followed by couple photos surrounded by all that gorgeous greenery. We also made our way to the back gazebo and inside by the fireplace for more photos. With the rain continuing outside, we took care of wedding party and family photos in front of the fireplace as well. The wedding party looked great in their black suits, with shades of purple and green bringing some beautiful color to the day.


One of our favorite details from Caylee and Ryan's wedding was the story behind their ceremony location. Years ago, when they were both students at WPI, they attended an event at the property, back when Fern Hill Barn was known by a different name. They even have a photo of the two of them standing in front of that very same fireplace from early in their relationship! Fast forward several years, and there they were, getting married in front of it. How fun is that? We love that a place that was part of their story so many years ago became the setting for their wedding ceremony.


After the ceremony, guests gathered under the tent for cocktail hour before heading into the barn ballroom for the reception. The rainy September weather made the warm, cozy atmosphere inside feel even better, and the purple and green details looked beautiful throughout the space.


The reception kicked off with introductions and Caylee and Ryan's first dance, followed by cake cutting, toasts, and parent dances. Once the formalities were finished, it was time to fill the dance floor! Everyone had a great time celebrating, and the rainy weather outside was the last thing on anyone's mind.


Caylee and Ryan's wedding was such a great reminder that the weather doesn't have to be perfect for a wedding day to be wonderful. Between the fun group of family and friends, the cozy setting, and that incredible full circle moment in front of the fireplace, it was a September wedding we'll remember!
