Courtney and Jake’s wedding day at Fern Hill Barn in Spencer, MA, was nothing short of unforgettable. Even with a few transportation hiccups at the start, their day unfolded with a sense of joy, resilience, and—dare we say—good luck.
The couple planned to do a first look along with wedding party and family photos before the ceremony. When timing slipped later than expected, Courtney and Jake’s positive attitude made all the difference. They decided not to worry if guests saw them before the ceremony, which allowed us to make up for lost time and complete their formal photos before the ceremony. As it turned out, this was a blessing—because nature had its own plans.
Courtney’s cousin officiated a short, sweet, and personal ceremony that began just as thunder rumbled in the distance. The couple said their vows and were pronounced married right before the skies opened up. The moment they ducked inside, the rain poured down in dramatic fashion—yet they had already gotten the outdoor ceremony they dreamed of. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
After the downpour, the skies cleared enough for Courtney and Jake to step outside for portraits. They embraced the drizzle, venturing out with umbrellas and even stepping into the rain for a few photos. The moody post-rain glow made everything feel extra romantic, and as if on cue, a partial rainbow appeared—a picture-perfect sign of good luck on their wedding day.
Courtney shared that she was a proud DIY bride, and her attention to detail was evident everywhere. Their “garden party” theme was beautifully brought to life with lush florals and greenery, provided by her family’s business, Nunan Florist and Greenhouses. From ferns to intricate arrangements, the setting was over-the-top gorgeous and perfectly reflective of Courtney’s vision.
If the beginning of the day reminded everyone that not everything goes as planned, the reception proved that what truly matters is celebrating love. Guests filled the tent with laughter, music, and nonstop dancing as Courtney and Jake soaked in every moment of their new chapter together.
