A Relaxed August Wedding at Fern Hill Barn
Maddy and Joe celebrated their wedding on a hot August day at Fern Hill Barn in Spencer, Massachusetts. Their day was relaxed, fun, and centered around spending time with their family and friends.
After getting ready, Maddy and Joe shared a first look before we headed around the Fern Hill grounds for couple photos. August brings so much color to the property, and we had plenty of time to take advantage of the gardens, fields, pond, and summer blooms before the ceremony.
After their couple photos, Maddy shared a special first peek with her dad. We then photographed their families, getting all of their family photos done before guests arrived.
Their ceremony took place outside, surrounded by the greenery of Fern Hill. Maddy’s aunt officiated, adding a personal family connection to the ceremony.
With their couple and family photos already finished, Maddy and Joe were able to join cocktail hour and spend time visiting with their family and friends. An August rainstorm rolled through during cocktail hour and continued into the reception, but it also brought a pretty great surprise when a rainbow appeared over the property.
The rest of the evening was all about celebrating with their favorite people. The whole day had an easy, casual feeling, from their first look and time exploring the grounds to their outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Between the summer flowers, a rainstorm, a rainbow, and plenty of time with family and friends, it was a perfect August celebration at Fern Hill Barn.
