The Perfect Summer Celebration
Sarah and Raf were married on a beautiful July day at Fern Hill Barn in Spencer, Massachusetts. Although the day was hot, a light haze from distant wildfire smoke softened the skies, and the summer gardens around the property were in full bloom, creating a beautiful backdrop for their wedding day.
The day began with getting ready photographs before everyone gathered for the ceremony. Sarah and Raf chose not to do a first look, so we spent the time beforehand photographing each side of the wedding party separately, along with a few family photographs. It allowed us to make great use of the time before the ceremony while still keeping their first look for the walk down the aisle.
Their ceremony was officiated by Raf's godfather, making it an especially meaningful part of the day. One detail that everyone will remember was Raf's walking boot. After rupturing his Achilles shortly before the wedding, he spent the day wearing the boot, but it certainly didn't slow him down. It became part of the story of their wedding day and one of those little details they'll always remember when they look back at their photographs.
They also included a fun personal touch with a Lord of the Rings inspired ring box, which was a favorite detail from the day.
After the ceremony, we explored the grounds at Fern Hill Barn for couple photographs while the gardens were at their summer peak. We then gathered everyone for full wedding party photographs and the rest of the family photographs before heading into the reception.
The reception began with Sarah and Raf's first dance before they made their way around the room during a fun photo table dash to visit each of their guests. After dinner, they shared cake cutting, thoughtful toasts, and a mother son dance between Raf and his mom before the dance floor officially opened.
From there, everyone spent the rest of the evening celebrating together and filling the dance floor. It was a wonderful summer wedding and a perfect way to celebrate the beginning of their next chapter together.
